The finale of the V Republic-wide Young Forester Contest “Let’s protect the forests!” featured 62 ecological projects. They covered activities of the young forester groups, observation of flora and fauna, protection of natural monuments, and study of human impact on the forests.
8th “Environment for Europe” Ministerial Conference: FLEG side event brings together forest management stakeholders from across the region
Batumi, GEORGIA – At the side event NGOs, government stakeholders, and forest experts discussed the results and planned the way forward for the FLEG II Program.
FLEG II suggested a new strategy to combat forest fires: a switch from fighting every fire to a more selective wildfire management based on the environmental and economic assessment of the consequences.
The barriers revealed by FLEG can hinder socio-economic development of the country.
FLEG II regional conference in Joensuu, Finland contributed to sharing of best practices and lessons learned for improvement of forest governance, in order to promote sustainable and diversified use of forest resources.
